Positive Behaviour for Learning

Minnamurra PBL School-Wide Expectations

The Minnamurra Public School Community has recognised the importance of the following core values:

Aims

At Minnamurra Public School our aim is to ensure:

  • A positive climate and fair discipline;

  • Effective learning and teaching;

  • Effective and active community participation;

  • That the emotional, physical, social and moral needs of all students are met.

Guiding Principles

At Minnamurra Public School:

  • Student wellbeing is the responsibility of all staff;

  • Effective learning is the product of quality teaching combined with focused and engaged students working within a positive learning environment that is based on respect, responsibility and doing our best;

  • Student wellbeing encompasses everything that the school community does to meet the personal and social needs of students and enhance their well-being. It involves recognising, valuing and developing each student as a total and unique person within the context of society;

  • The student wellbeing framework is the sum of all policies, structures and activities which are planned and implemented by the school to promote student wellbeing. It involves general care of students, personal development, preventative, proactive and personalised care;

  • Effective learning and teaching is provided within a secure, well managed environment in partnership with parents and the wider community;

  • All disciplinary matters will be treated within the bounds of procedural fairness.

MPS Behaviour Expectations and Matrix

In order to ensure good discipline and effective learning within the school environment, the school community has developed school wide student expectations.

The MPS Behaviour Matrix outlines the expectations of students in different school contexts. The expectations are explicity taught to students through a fortnightly focus.

MPS Student Acknowledgment System

Our student acknowledgment system outlines our school's process for celebrating positive student behaviour and learning.

Our acknowledgement system can be viewed here: MPS Acknowledgement System

MPS Behaviour Response Flowchart

All teachers at MPS follow our school's Behaviour Response Flowchart when responding to student behaviours.

The MPS Behaviour Response Flowchart for teachers can be viewed here: MPS Flowchart

The MPS Flowchart for students is displayed in all classrooms.
